W.T.C.Productions proudly presents a CD version of Amestigon’s Demo recordings, namely "Through the Ages we preserve..." and "Mysterious Realms", originally released in '95 & '96. Also included is, "Moon turning red", a rare track originally hailing from "The first Battle Cry" (1994). This piece of Austrian Black Metal History is limited to only 300 copies.

Pyöristettynä kolmisenkymmentä vuotta black metalia kuunnelleena täytyy sanoa, että mitä enemmän vuosia on kulunut, sitä vähemmän kiinnostaa skene ja sitä harvempi bm levy tai bändi kuulostaa muulta kuin säälittävältä pihinältä. Aika moni alan klassikkoteoksena pitämäni levykin on menettänyt tehonsa täysin vuosien kuluessa. Pidän tätä ihan luonnollisena kehityksenä, varsinkin kun tietynlainen (ulkomusiikillinen) arvomaailma, jota bm parhaimmillaan edustaa, ei ole menettänyt tehoaan. Musiikin voima on kuitenkin katoavaista, niin myös bm:n.

Mutta mutta. Toki vanhat (ennen 2000-luku) klassikot kuten De mysteriis dom Sathanas, Blasfemia eternal, Drawing down the moon, The return..., Ugra karma, Welcome to hell, In the nightside eclipse, Hvis lyset tar oss, Via dolorosa, Panzerfaust ja muutamat muut jaksavat vielä puhutella. Nostalgian tunnetta en näistä juurikaan saa, koska eihän ketään täysijärkinen aikuinen haikaile teini-ikäänsä.

Uudesta eli 2000-luvun bm:sta en pysty mainitsemaan kuin Octinomosin Welcome to my planetin ja Absurdin muutamat, jotka olisivat kestäneet useampaa kuuntelua. Yritetty on monia, mutta ei vain iske mikään passivoiva sihinä tai epäinspiroiva blastaaminen. Mglalla tosin on muutamia erinomaisia biisejä, mutta albumit eivät kokonaisuuksina oikein kanna.

Tätä kirjoittaessa soi Ancient Ritesin Blood of christ (Mohammed wept)!
