UDO DIRKSCHNEIDER To Perform ACCEPT's 'Metal Heart' Album In Its Entirety At Next Year's WACKEN OPEN AIR

Former ACCEPT singer Udo Dirkschneider will celebrate the 35th anniversary of the band's "Metal Heart" album by performing it in its entirety at next year's edition of the Wacken Open Air festival, set to take place July 30 - August 1, 2020 in Wacken, Germany. He also promises a big surprise for the show.

In addition, Udo and his U.D.O. band will once again perform with the music corps of the German Armed Forces. The combination, which, at first glance, seems unusual, already thrilled us at the Wacken Open Air 2015. After another concert in Elspe in 2018, the third collaboration of the more than 100 musicians of U.D.O. and the German Armed Forces will happen at Wacken in 2020. By the way, a joint album with exclusively new songs will also be released in mid-2020.

Tai jos ei "Accept" tee, niin UDO tekee. Samalla ihmeellistä, että Udo ei hirveämmin tykkää Metal Heart -albumista. Mutta money talks.

Kannattihan käydä tsekkaamas ne klassikkokeikat (3 kasarisettiä Jkl-Vsa-Sjk, 1 ysärisetti Mlx) kun oli mahdollisuus, tämän ikäluokan äijät kun ovat loppusuoralla niin ei malta jättää tilaisuuksia käyttämättä. Kaikki kuitenki loppuu aikanaan.

Udo kuitenkin jo palasi soololevykantaan uransa parhaimmistoon kuuluvalla levyllä ja uskon että jatkaakin sillä linjalla. Tämä Wackenin show on vain fanipalvelus ja rahapussireissu - ja hyvä niin!

Udohan tekee tuon toisen, MH35-keikan Dirkschneider-nimellä, niin kait sekin on jokin porsaanreikä sanottuihin asioihin

Kk sitten kun näin sedän tämän uusimman levyn myötä, sekä uudella kokoonpanolla, oli harmillista huomata miten noihin samoihin tylsiin & tuhanteen kertaan kuultuihin aiempien levyjen valintoihin oli luisuttu takaisin. Kun kuitenkin sekä Steelhammerin ja Decadentin kiertueilla nähtiin mielenkiintoisia ja kaivattuja poimintoja.

Tykkäisin kyllä, jos mr. Udo ottaisi settiin mm. Don't Look Backin, We're Historyn, Mean Machinen, Sweet Little Childin sekä muutamia ralleja Faceless Worldilta, kuten Blitz Of Lightning, Future Land ja vaikka sen nimibiisin.

ACCEPT fans, rejoice! It appears that three former members of the band will reunite on stage this summer.

Founding ACCEPT singer Udo Dirkschneider and bassist Peter Baltes were photographed with longtime drummer Stefan Kaufmann late last month while they were apparently preparing for Dirkschneider's upcoming concerts at the 2020 edition of the Wacken Open Air festival.

Udo is scheduled to play two shows at this year's Wacken: the first will see his band DIRKSCHNEIDER perform ACCEPT's classic 1985 album "Metal Heart" in its entirety to celebrate the LP's 35th anniversary, while the second will pair Udo's main band U.D.O. with Das Musikkorps der Bundeswehr, the military band of the German federal armed forces. U.D.O. and the 100-plus musicians of Das Musikkorps der Bundeswehr previously teamed up for the 2015 edition of Wacken and then for another concert in Elspe in 2018.

U.D.O., the German metal band led by former ACCEPT frontman Udo
Dirkschneider, has collaborated with Das Musikkorps der Bundeswehr,
the military band of the German federal armed forces, on an album
called "We Are One", to be released on July 17 via AFM
Records/Soulfood Music.

The LP contains 15 new songs that were developed and arranged by
U.D.O. together with Lieutenant Colonel Christoph Scheibling. Two
other former ACCEPT members, Stefan Kaufmann and Peter Baltes, were
part of the songwriting too, as well as the German Armed Forces
composers Guido Rennert and Alexander Reuber. The title "We Are One"
has been the driving force for everyone involved.

Jotensakin sekavalta kuulostaa, kun säveltäjiä myös tuolta orkan puolelta, toisaalta ihan hyvältä ne pasuunat kuulostivat osassa kappaleita 2015 Wackenissa. Ja eiköhän noihin 15 biisiin pari hyvää mahdu, kuten Udolla aina.

Wuppertal/Siegburg – This upcoming summer will hold a musical surprise: Metal legend U.D.O. will publish an album in collaboration with the official Concert Band of the German Armed Forces (Musikkorps der Bundeswehr). The album is entitled `We Are One‘ and will be released on July 17th.

German Rock band U.D.O, including icon Udo Dirkschneider (the original voice of Accept with worldwide hits such as `Balls To The Wall‘, `Metal Heart‘ etc) presents, together with the renowned Concert Band of the German Armed Forces under the command of Lieutenant Colonel Christoph Scheibling, a unique worldwide musical project.

The album contains 15 new songs that will be released through AFM Records /Soulfood Music. All songs have been developed and arranged by U.D.O. together with Christoph Scheibling. The two former Accept musicians Accept-Mitstreiter Stefan Kaufmann and Peter Baltes have been part of the songwriting too – as well as the German Armed Forces´ composers Guido Rennert and Alexander Reuber. The title of the album `We Are One‘ has been the driving force for everyone involved.

Whatever anyone might think about the `rock band meets orchestra‘ collaborations that already exist in the music world, this is far from what `We Are One‘ really is. This is one of the most elaborate concept albums the market has ever seen, the hard rocking sound of U.D.O. has not only been intensified by a 60 piece orchestra, but contains some unique arrangements that underline how characteristic yet versatile U.D.O. is.

This project surprises the listener in every aspect, and is a project with a clear statement: ‘We Are One‘ is a critical reflection of a world in which we all leave our mark, and in which we all have to show responsibility.

No eipä tuo pärjää U.D.O.:n orkesterin kanssa vedetylle 'Navy Metal Nightile'. Ei lähellekään.

Vähän turhan kepeän hilpeä meno, jotenkin. Kieltämättä tarttuva, mutta muna uupuu.

Kuuluuko tuossa sitten niiden minkälie-setien biisinkirjoitus, ketkä on otettu mukaan? Aika äitelä kyllä, eikä edes hyvällä tavalla. Udo kuulostaa myös jotenkin oudolta, varsinkin kertsissä. Missä se tuttu terä on, mikä löytyy vaikka uusimmalta studioalbumilta?

No niin, nyt on jo parempaa meininkiä kuin ekalla sinkkulohkaisulla. On minun korviini niin saksalaisen kuuloista balladiosastoa kuin olla ja voi - tämä sanottuna positiivisessa mielessä. Samanhenkinen biisi kuin esim. Axxisin Touch The Rainbow. Tämä Where The Angels Fly on Kaufmannin ja Baltesin käsialaa.

Ei näkynyt tuolla AFM:n biisilistauksella tuota biisiä? Liekö jokin bonus noiden vierailijoiden vuoksi tms. Aika imeliähän nuo saksalaiset 'wearetheworld' -kollaboraatiot erityisesti aina ovat; onneksi esim. Andi Deris teki tämän biisinsä myös itse myöhemmin yksin viimeisimmälle soololevylleen kun ei tuota kuoroa kestä paria kertaa enempää kuunnella.

Mutta hauskaa että Baltes pääsi myös ääneen, olen aina pitänyt Peterin äänestä. Ja Kaufmann taisi olla kitarassa yksin, eikä Smirnovia ollenkaan?

Tuo ko. kappale oli sellainen, että Peteriä ja Kaufmannia oli pyydetty kirjoittamaan tuo kappale kiitoksena niille henkilöille, jotka ovat uhranneet mahdollisesti oman terveytensä muitten auttamiseen koronan aikana. Eli ei taida löytyä sittenkään levyltä, ellei sitten ole jonkin sortin bonuksena joillakin versioilla - mene ja tiedä.

Minä kyllä tykkäsin tästä kappaleesta. Hyvin muuten aikoinaan toimi Baltesin laulamat balladit sekä myös Acceptin Crossroads-kappale, jossa Udo ja Peter vuorottelivat. Lay It Down toimii myös hyvin Baltesin laulamana.

Baltesin fb-sivulta lainaus: About a month ago Stefan & I were asked to write a song for Germany's Musikkorps to say Thank You to the frontline workers all around the world who have been risking their lives day in and day out during the Corona crisis.
These are certainly challenging times and we are all affected one way or another.

Mutta tämä oli vain toisinto In The Darknessista ja viimeistään kamala saksofoni vei siltä pohjan, jos ei muu liiallinen imelyys ja mie sentään yleisesti ottaen pidän aina slovareista!

Dancing With An Angel on muuten yksi niistä U.D.O.-balladeista, joista en pidä yhtään. Näin ne makuasiat menevät. Juu, eihän noissa balladeissa mitään sinällään vikaa ole, kunhan mainitsin, että pehmokamaa; se ei sinänsä ollut moite. Onhan Udolla ja kumppaneilla ihan kohtuullisesti hyviä balladeja, kuten One Lone Voice, Blind Eyes, In The Darkness ja vaikkapa Sweet Little Child.

Tuo yllä oleva biisi oli kuulemma Kaufmannin ja Baltesin säveltämä.

Saxofonista tuli muuten mieleen sterotypia jostakin smooth jazzia soittavasta orkesterista. Ensimmäisenä tuli mieleen The Rippingtons.
