Klippi tulevasta singlestä Shot In The Dark julkaistu tänään:

edit: Ja luottoäänittäjä Mike Fraser juttelee uuden albumin töiden aloituksesta, ym.
bm kirjoitti:AC/DC's longtime engineer Mike Fraser has spoken to the AC/DCFans.Net podcast about his involvement with the band's much-anticipated comeback album. The follow-up to 2014's "Rock Or Bust" will feature AC/DC's 2020 lineup of Brian Johnson (vocals), Phil Rudd (drums), Cliff Williams (bass), Angus Young (guitar) and Stevie Young (guitar). The term "PWR/UP", which is featured in several of AC/DC's teasers is apparently the title of the LP, although there has been no announcement yet as to when it might be coming.

More than two years ago, Brian and Phil, along with Angus and Stevie, were photographed outside Vancouver's Warehouse Studios. Based on the pictures, the assumption was that AC/DC was in the midst of making — or at least planning — another album, with Rudd and Johnson both back in the lineup.

Asked if he ever thought AC/DC would be making another album after "Rock Or Bust", Fraser said (hear audio below): "At the end of the 'Rock Or Bust' tour, I figured that was kind of gonna be it — they were gonna hang up their hats. They had kind of done a tribute to Mal [late AC/DC rhythm guitarist Malcolm Young], but it ended up kind of funny. So I didn't think they'd be back at it again. But Angus has got a lot of fire in his belly, and if he could possibly put it together again, he would have been the guy that did it. And he did."

Mike said that he was told about AC/DC making a new album approximately two weeks before the band arrived in Vancouver to start the sessions.

"I remember I got the call for this record, but no detail," he said. "I had no idea, walking in the first day of the studio, what was gonna happen — who the personnel of the band would be. As far as I knew, Brian had retired, Cliff had retired, and with Phil and some of his problems he's had in his home country [of New Zealand], who knew if he was even gonna be allowed out of his country. So walking into the studio here in Vancouver the first day, I had no idea what was gonna happen. When I got there, none of the band had arrived yet, but a lot of their techs were there getting things moved into the studio and set up. And one of the guys said, 'Hey, you know what's going on?' And I said, 'I have no idea. I just know we're here and we're setting up.' And he goes, he says, 'Well, the whole band's here: Brian, Cliff, Phil and Stevie, and they're here and we're ready to rock another record.' So, man, it was such a shocking, awesome surprise. It was great."

According to Fraser, the songwriting and recording process for "PWR/UP" was "very much the same" as that for "Rock Or Bust". "I think Angus kind of came into this with a lot of ideas and riffs and not too many completed songs," he said. "But that was similar on 'Rock Or Bust'. 'Cause him and Malcolm had written tons of songs before Mal got sick and eventually passed away. So he's got a whole treasure trove of ideas and riffs and all that. So he's probably spent a few years before we came in to do this record pooling ideas together and all that, and then when he came into the studio here, he just sat down with a whole suitcase full of little demo things he had done. And him and Brendan O'Brien, who produced the record, would sift through all the ideas and say, 'Hey, that's great. That's a really good song. Let's put that riff here.' It's just mostly all these great riffs and ideas Ang had. He had — I don't remember exactly — maybe three or four songs sort of completed that they maybe adjusted, added a chorus here or something like that. But yeah, it was just basically from a stockpile of all these riffs and stuff that Angus and Mal had put together over the years. So they had to sort piece the songs together before we'd record them. They'd probably spend a day or so doing that, and we'd come in, blast off the song. And like these guys work, it's pretty much live in the studio. What you hear is what they did, what you get. They fire up pretty quick. They all work really good together, 'cause they've worked together for so long; they're a unit. They try and get as much energy into the song as they can live in the studio, 'cause that's what they are — they are just so great live. So, yeah, it was [pretty] much the same as 'Rock Or Bust'."

Asked about the production approach on the new AC/DC album and whether there was a particular sound the band was going for this time around, Mike said: "We never really discussed the sound, because they just have an iconic sound. So each record we just kind of try and do the same thing. Every record I've done with them, it's always been the same amplifiers — Marshalls… It just depends on what comes out. And sometimes a certain key or turning of the guitar will sound a certain way. We don't try and overthink things. You've just gotta get thing ready, sounding as great as you can for when they come in and play. They don't sit there and play it for hours while you're tweaking the sounds. You've gotta be ready to go, 'cause once they start playing, they can't help but kind of just kick in. So you wanna get that on tape… As an engineer recording it, I've gotta be ready for whenever they go, 'Step up there in the studio and just push 'Go'.' So we don't really put too much thought and planning into the sound, because they have a sound. It's just a matter of capturing it."

Fraser also talked about how long it took AC/DC to complete the album from the time they entered Warehouse to begin recording. "I think it was maybe six weeks [laying down all the instruments and vocals], and then we went down to L.A. for two or three weeks and mixed it," he said. "And then I think Angus and Brendan reconvened in L.A. to go through a couple of different edits in the songs. And I think Brendan might have remixed a couple of the songs. So eight weeks total, maybe."

Regarding why it took more than two years for AC/DC to reveal any details about "PWR/UP" following the album's completion, Mike said: "I know on past records, there's been a bit of a wait before the release — I guess as they set up the world tours and figure out where all those marbles are gonna lie. But I think on this record, especially, the COVID had put such a spin on things… AC/DC aren't the kind of band that they just release the record and then just have it stream, and then we'll go play live when we can. They want that all to sort of line up. That's what they've always done — release a record and jump on the road. So I think there was a lot of 'Wait. Let's what happens with this thing.' And, obviously, part of the the problem with these guys, 'cause [the whole project was] so secret, I'm sure having a record done and in the can, there's a possibility somebody is gonna get ahold of it and leak it. So you can't sit on it for too long, 'cause somebody's gonna leak it out. So I guess you've gotta juggle that."

"Shot In The Dark", the first single from "PWR/UP", is expected to be released this coming week.

Earlier in the year, prior to the coronavirus outbreak, it was rumored that AC/DC was about to announce a world stadium tour. The trek will apparently include Johnson, who was forced to leave the band mid-tour four years ago due to a dangerous level of hearing loss. He was eventually replaced on the road by GUNS N' ROSES vocalist Axl Rose.

Levy tulee jo kk päästä ja tuo video huomenna keskiviikkona; tässä Williamsin ja Johnsonin mietteitä ennen sitä:
bm kirjoitti:AC/DC will release its long-awaited new studio album, "PWR/UP", on November 13. The first single from the disc, "Shot In The Dark", will arrive on Wednesday, October 7 at 12:00 a.m. EDT / 9:00 p.m. PDT (Tuesday night). The follow-up to 2014's "Rock Or Bust" features AC/DC's 2020 lineup of Brian Johnson (vocals), Phil Rudd (drums), Cliff Williams (bass), Angus Young (guitar) and Stevie Young (guitar).

In a brand new interview with the Rock 100.5 Atlanta radio station, Johnson stated about how the new AC/DC LP came together (hear audio below): "It's something probably nobody thought would happen. It was about 2018, and Angus was contacted by the record company, who said, 'Do you fancy doing an album?' And Angus said, 'Well, let's ask the boys.' So he asked me and Cliff and Phil. And Stevie was there, obviously. And I think we all said 'yes' immediately; we just said, 'This would be great.' And, of course, we went off to Vancouver in about August. As soon as we walked in, there was this electricity, this bond that had been built up over 38 years since I joined. And, of course, when the boys plugged in, or powered up, if you'll excuse the pun, and they started playing, that was it. It was a great time."

Williams, who retired from AC/DC following the completion of the "Rock Or Bust" tour, said that he was "really excited" to reunite with the band in the studio. "'Rock Or Bust' was due to be my last fling, and that was a tough tour to finish," he said. "But when I heard that Brian and Phil were back, I was super excited to join in."

Asked what fans can expect to hear on "PWR/UP", Brian said: "There's a lot of [rumors] about [late AC/DC rhythm guitarist] Malcolm's [Young] guitar playing [being on the album], [and] well, of course, that's not true. But what is true is the fact that Angus and Malcolm had done riffs together all their life and really had a big box of them. And Angus said he basically just went through them all and he went, 'Oh, that's a good one. This is a good one.' And he brought them out. So it really is true that Malcolm is on there, basically, in spirit and all of that. And he's such a strong character in life. And I think everybody in the band still felt, especially Angus, his brother, [that Malcolm] is in everything. We're always conscious of that, that he's watching over, 'You'd better do it right. You'd better do it AC/DC style or just not do it at all.' And the songs came in — Angus came in with 'em and all, and worked with Brendan O'Brien, the producer, and I went into just a regular little control room, and we just went for it. And we'd take it back, and Angus would have a listen and see if there was anything that needed changing… But there wasn't much [that needed to be changed]."

Regarding the possibility of AC/DC live shows in support of "PWR/UP", Cliff said: "We talked about playing some shows. When we got together to shoot a video and do some rehearsals, it was with an idea of playing some shows. Unfortunately, we all went home after that rehearsal and conversations, and then this damn virus hit, so it was never taken any further. So, like everybody, everything is on the shelf. But we would love to get out and play live."

Last month, images seemingly taken from a new video shoot were apparently posted on the band's official web site before being swiftly removed. The photos, which were obtained by a Brazilian fan site, appeared to show Johnson joined by Rudd, Williams and Angus and Stevie. The pictures were the first of Phil and Stevie sharing a stage following Malcolm's death.

Johnson was forced to leave AC/DC mid-tour four years ago due to a dangerous level of hearing loss. He was eventually replaced on the road by GUNS N' ROSES vocalist Axl Rose.

Rudd was ousted from AC/DC when he was sentenced to eight months of home detention by a New Zealand court in 2015 after pleading guilty to charges of threatening to kill and drug possession.

AC/DC's 'Power Up' Lands At No. 1 On Billboard Chart

November 22, 2020

https://www.blabbermouth.net/news/ac-dc ... 200-chart/

AC/DC's latest album, "Power Up", has entered the Billboard 200 chart at No. 1. The effort shifted 117,000 equivalent album units in the U.S. in its first week of release, according to Billboard. Of that sum, 111,000 were album sales, 5,000 (equaling 7.8 million on-demand streams of the album's songs) were streaming equivalent albums (SEA) units; and 1,000 were track equivalent albums (TEA) units.

The Billboard 200 chart ranks the most popular albums of the week in the U.S. based on multi-metric consumption as measured in equivalent album units. Units comprise album sales, track equivalent albums and streaming equivalent albums. Each unit equals one album sale, or 10 individual tracks sold from an album, or 3,750 ad-supported or 1,250 paid/subscription on-demand official audio and video streams generated by songs from an album.

AC/DC previously topped the Billboard 200 with 2008's "Black Ice" and 1981's "For Those About To Rock (We Salute You)".

"Power Up" is the fastest-selling album of 2020 in at least three of its biggest markets — U.S., Australia and the U.K. — where it debuted at No. 1. In the U.K., it opened with first-week sales of 62,000. 52,955 units of these were on a physical format (CD, vinyl, cassette).

Back in December 2014, AC/DC's previous album, "Rock Or Bust", sold around 172,000 copies in the United States in its first week of release to debut at position No. 3 on The Billboard 200 chart. This marked a huge drop from the opening number of AC/DC's 2008 CD, "Black Ice", which topped sales charts in 29 countries, including the U.S., where it sold an incredible 784,288 in its first week — making it the band's first-ever No. 1 debut on the U.S. album chart. "Black Ice" went on to sell another 270,923 units in its second week, bringing the first two weeks' sales in the U.S. to over 1 million copies. Sold exclusively at Walmart, Sam's Club and ACDC.com in the U.S., "Black Ice" quickly became the biggest-selling rock record of 2008.

Uutta levyä kuunnellut ja en ole syttynyt accadacan levytyksiin sitten Razors Edgen. Alkuun ajattelin, että onko tämäkin yhtä turha julkaisut kun viimeisimmät ja vanhan lämmittelyä. Kokonaisuutena aika lailla noin mutta on pari toimivaa rallia omiin korviin, josta loistava Demon Fire on paras orkan biisi kai 2 vuosikymmeneen. Systems Down toimii myös loistavasti ja puolustaa omiin kirjoihin julkaisun olemassa oloa. Shot in the Darkista luulin, että se on coveri Ozzym samannimisestä ralllista mutta ok biisi vaikka mieluummin oisin tuon Demonin nähnyt sinkkuna.

Miinuksena ei kyllä jaksa kuunnella tuota Kick you when you're downia, samat lainit on jo niin monessa biisissä ja tämä on ihan turha tekele. Veljeskappaleet (ai no AC/DC tapauksessa kai lähes kaikki onkin) Realize ja Rejection kuuluu myös siihen kastiin, ettei olisi haitannut vaikkei niitä olisi koskaan kuullut. No itselle jää soittolistalle nuo muutamat biisit ja muuten nautin accadacca tuulella vanhoista. Onhan se sinänsä hienoa, että papat jaksaa vielä heilua.
